Who he was

Julian Schwinger (1918–1994) was an American theoretical physicist, one of the founders of quantum electrodynamics (QED). He shared the 1965 Nobel Prize in Physics with Richard Feynman and Sin-Itiro Tomonaga for independently developing the renormalized version of QED that resolved the theory’s earlier infinities.

Schwinger’s 1948 calculation added the first quantum correction to Dirac’s tree-level $g=2$ prediction for the electron’s magnetic moment — a specific, calculable one-loop QED effect giving $g\approx2.00232$, not a guess or a fit. This same real result is reused (and, in earlier drafts of Paper 6 and Paper 7, was initially presented ambiguously as if independently derived) throughout PBT’s own spin-precession papers.

QED’s anomalous magnetic moment calculation is among the most precisely confirmed results in the history of physics — matched to roughly ten significant figures between theory and experiment.

Where this touches PBT

This is one of the clearest examples on the whole site of a borrowed result: Papers 6 and 7 originally presented Schwinger’s real QED correction as if it emerged from PBT’s own aether-vorticity mechanism. Both papers now carry editorial notes making clear the number is Schwinger’s, not independently reproduced by PBT’s own derivation.
